Meetings

Every meeting should be lively and cheerful, the type of gathering where everyone leaves feeling: "That was fun, I'm glad I went."

Perseverance

                                  (source: tumblr)

If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.

Our Buddhist practice takes place in the midst of our busy daily lives. It is all too easy for us to grow lazy and neglect it. Therefore, there is perhaps no more difficult practice when it comes to continuing. If we challenge ourselves to keep practicing even a little each day, before we realize it we have built a path to happiness in the depths of our lives; we have established a solid embankment that will prevent our ever being swept away toward unhappiness.

True Happiness

Happiness is not something that someone else, like a lover, can give to us. We have to achieve it ourselves. And the only way to do so is by developing our character and capacity as human beings fully maximizing our potential.  If we sacrifice our growth and talent for love,  we absolutely will not find happiness. True happiness is obtained through fully realizing our potential.

Defy Gravity

I'm through accepting limits cause someone says they're so.....
Everyone deserves the chance to fly!
And if I'm flying solo at least I'm flying free, tell them how I am Defying Gravity

Our lives are our own. It is not for someone else to dictate to us how we should live. All that awaits those who allow themselves to be continually swayed by what other people say or do is unhappiness. We simply need to have the self-belief to be able to say: "This is right. This is the path I will follow. I am content." Happiness is born from such inner fortitude. Moreover, those who earnestly devote themselves in accord with the Mystic Law cannot daily to realize lives of total fulfillment.

What Really Matters

I recently came across the Rob Thomas song "Little Wonders".  Its message is a very beautiful one and I could not help but hear in the lyrics - 'It's the heart that really matters in the end'. I knew I heard or read that expression before. Whether it be in the end or the most, the message is still the same.

From Faith into Action (Daisaku Ikeda):

"Our heart is what matters most.  A heart that praises the Mystic law brings forth boundless benefit. And the heart that praises those who spread the Mystic Law elicits still greater benefit."
"Everything is determined by our attitude, by our resolve. Our heart is what matters the most."
"Those who exert themselves  for the sake of the Law are ever young. Our heart is what matters the most."

Written by Rob Thomas

Let it go
Let it roll right off your shoulder
Don't you know
The hardest part is over
Let it in
Let your clarity define you
In the end
We will only just remember how it feels

Our lives are made
In these small hours
These little wonders
These twists and turns of fate
Time falls away,
But these small hours
These small hours
Still remain

Let it slide
Let your troubles fall behind you
Let it shine,
Till you feel it all around you
And I don't mind
If it's me you need to turn to
We'll get by
It's the heart that really matters in the end
